stake in SunPower. Irony? The company is still struggling.

Power: – Beacon Power Corp filed for bankruptcy protection
in October, 2011 just a year after Obama approved a $43 million Government loan
guarantee. They remain barely in business, still struggling to make energy that
makes sense or that works at all.
Ecotality: – ECOtality, a San Francisco green-tech company that never
earned any money and remains on the verge of bankruptcy after receiving roughly
$115 million in two loan guarantees from President Obama, who wants to do some
more of this kind of Democrat Slush Fund Guarantees after he is elected to a
2nd term.
A123 Solar: – A123 Solar received $279 million from taxpayers
thanks to President Obama’s Department of Energy loan guarantees even
after the Solyndra bankruptcy and is getting another $500M from Obama after a
loss of $400M.
UniSolar: – Uni-Solar filed
for Ch 11 bankruptcy in June 20, 2012 after laying off hundreds
of workers. UniSolar received even more Obama money after showing now progress,
no profits and is still failing… yet they still remain in business with Obama’s
help.
Azure Dynamics: – Azure
Dynamics filed for bankruptcy in June , 2012 wasting millions in Obama
“Stimulus” money and received abatement on taxes owed and and several tax
credits. Azure Dynamics LLC filed for bankruptcy protection in Canada and
the US. Azure laid off 120 of its 160 employees in Oak Park; Boston;
Vancouver, British Columbia; and the UK.
Evergreen Solar: – Evergreen Solar received $527 Million in Taxpayer money
from Obama and filed bankruptcy in late 2011. Evergreen, which closed its
taxpayer-supported Devens factory in March, 2011 cut more than 1800
jobs. Evergreen’s $450 million factory, turned out to be a colossal
“waste” of taxpayer money.
Ener1: Ener1 Inc. received a $118 million U.S. Energy Department
grant from President Obama to make electric-car batteries but filed for
bankruptcy protection January 2012 after defaulting on bond debt.

Surface air CO2
concentrations vary by 100s to 1,000s of ppm within a span of hours to days or
weeks across the natural world. The observational evidence suggests these
variations are neither driving or even causing temperature changes.
According to recent field research (Mungai, 2021) conducted in Kenya, the observed CO2
concentrations in the atmospheric air above mofette springs (8) averages
3,400-4,800 ppm. Interestingly, the temperatures associated with these high CO2
levels are “relatively low” or “cold” (~21.5 to 29.5°C) compared to ambient
temperatures at other nearby sites with ~400 ppm CO2.
The study also shows that when CO2
increases from 5,253 ppm in wet season to 12,138 ppm in dry season over a
mofette springs site, there is only a 0.3°C temperature differential (23.4°C
vs. 23.1°C) associated with this >7,000 ppm CO2 change. The sensitivity of
the surface air temperature to these extremely high CO2 variations would appear
to be vanishingly small – or non-existent.
Similarly, CO2 concentrations in the surface air over cities typically vary by 100s of ppm within a span of hours. CO2 also fluctuates by these magnitudes from season to season.
During the warmest part of the day
(mid-afternoon) or the hottest summer month, the CO2 concentrations dip to
their lowest values.
For example, as the mid-afternoon
(summer) CO2 concentrations in urban environments dip to 285, 359, 402, or 388
ppm, whereas just before dawn (winter), when air temperatures are coldest, CO2
climbs to 588, 788, 743, or 754 ppm (McRae and Graedel, 1979, Gorka and Lewicka-Szczebak, 2013, Kumar and Nagendra, 2015, and Gonzalez de Castillo et al., 2022, respectively.)
A rather similar profile occurs over
non-urban areas such as above tree cover or over grassy meadows.
In areas where trees are prevalent,
CO2 concentrations have been observed to flux from 328 ppm in the mid-afternoon
to 632 ppm at 3 a.m., when it is 3-4°C colder than it was 12 hours earlier (Hamacher et al., 1994).
Over meadows, CO2 routinely varies
from 280 ppm to 980 ppm within a span of hours (Szaran et al., 2005). Sometimes the variation
differentials reach >1,000 ppm (266 to 1,430 ppm). Once again, the higher
CO2 ppm values are associated with degrees colder temperatures
than the lower CO2 concentrations.
None of these real-world observations of rapid and significant surface air CO2 flux support the contention that surface air CO2 concentrations are the driver or cause of surface air temperature changes.

- In January 2006 Al Gore predicted that we had ten years left before the planet turned into a “total frying pan.” We made it.
- In 2008, a segment aired on ABC News predicted that NYC would be under water by June 2015.
- In 1970, ecologist Kenneth E.F. Watt predicted that “If present trends continue, the world will be about four degrees colder for the global mean temperature in 1990, but 11 degrees colder by the year 2000, This is about twice what it would take to put us in an ice age.”
- In 2008, Al Gore predicted that there is a 75% chance that the entire north polar ice cap would be completely melted within 5-7 years. He at least hedged that prediction by giving himself “75%” certainty. By 2014 - the polar ice cap had expanded over 60% (more than 900,000 sq miles)
- On May 13th 2014 France’s foreign minister said that we only have 500 days to stop “climate chaos.” The recent Paris climate summit met 565 days after his remark.
- In 2009, National Aeronautics and Space Administration Goddard Space Flight Center head James Wassen warned that Obama only had four years left to save the earth.
- On the first Earth Day its sponsor warned that “in 25 years, somewhere between 75% and 80% of all the species of living animals will be extinct.”
- And another Earth Day prediction from Kenneth Watt: “At the present rate of nitrogen buildup, it’s only a matter of time before light will be filtered out of the atmosphere and none of our land will be usable.”

Climate alarmists’ overwrought accounts of hot summer weather are “fueling mental derangements,” writes the Wall Street Journal’s Allysia Finley in a searing op-ed Monday.
It is not the weather itself, but the hyperbolic way it is reported that spreads panic, Finley insists, since in the past “heat waves were treated as a normal part of summer,” whereas now they are treated as harbingers of an impending climate apocalypse.
Knowingly or not, mainstream media have been complicit in spreading “climate hypochondria,” she writes, which simply does not match the reality of what is happening to the weather and the threats this may or may not pose.
“It isn’t difficult to notice that today’s snowflakes consider hot weather aberrant, similar to how they perceive normal feelings such as anxiety or sadness,” Finley asserts. “But there’s nothing normal about climate anxiety, despite the left’s claims to the contrary.”
Daily data back up Finley’s contentions. On Sunday, The Messenger reported that given the summer’s extreme heat, “we may not live to see climate’s ‘new normal.’” The article goes on to make the scientifically untenable claim that “thousands of deaths” from excessive July heat “can be attributed to human emissions of greenhouse gases.”
The article also repeats warnings of a climate “tipping point” beyond which humanity is doomed, a proposal that further stokes the climate hysteria underscored by Finley.
During a local telecast, Florida meteorologist Steve MacLaughlin uttered a similar threat, assuring viewers he fears we “have reached a point we cannot return from.”
“This is the first time that I’ve been overly concerned that we have reached a point we cannot return from,” MacLaughlin said in a weather report for NBC6 South Florida.
“In 25 years of broadcasting, I’ve never uttered these words on TV before,” the five-time Emmy-winning reporter wrote on Twitter. “I try to stay positive. I report on not just the problem, but the solution. I try to not be alarmist. But with corals, sirens should be blaring.”
Meanwhile, on Monday the Washington Post declared that the world is “boiling,” echoing breathless predictions from U.N. Secretary General António Guterres, who stated last Thursday that “the era of global boiling has arrived.”
The once-sober Associated Press joined in the melee, reporting Monday that as climate change produces hotter and longer heat waves, air conditioning “is now a matter of survival.”
Most people can read these reports and take them with a grain of salt, mentally toning down the obvious hyperbole and exercising critical thinking to form an objective opinion of the situation. They may consider, for instance, that many more people die each year from cold weather than from heat, or that globally fewer and fewer people die every year from weather-related events.
The problem, Finley suggests, is for those who are swept along by the alarmism, allowing themselves to be overwhelmed by irrational fear from prophecies of a rapidly imploding world.
“Climate hypochondriacs deserve to be treated with compassion, much like anyone who suffers from mental illness,” she concludes. “They shouldn’t, however, expect everyone else to enable their neuroses.”
